To create a collaborative project between 14-16 year olds in Spain and the UK on the environment. To look at modes of transport available to get from home to school and to investigate ways we can contribute to looking after the environment at school.

Why do we mostly travel to school by car?

Carbon footprint

I think we should measure the carbon footprint we create over the course of a year of getting to/from school, add this up for everyone in my class, then do something at the end of the year towards it.

Stage 5 - Suggestions for improvement

To discuss and put in place an action plan to improve the results of our survey

Stage 6 - Visit

To carry out a visit by the UK pupils to the Spanish partner school to help put in place our action plan for improvement

Stage 7 - End of project

To provide a copy of the end of project report and post video clips from our project diary

Are there things we could be doing in school to help the environment? We hope that our project will allow us to share ideas with our Spanish partner school and put in place an action plan at our school.
We found that pupils in Spain tend to live nearer their school and therefore most of them walked to school. In England, most pupils live between 1-3 miles from school so many took public transport or cycled.
