Summary

As an Eco School, we are aiming to teach our learners the importance of: - Recycling unwanted objects - Understanding that objects can have different purposes - Furthering knowledge of animals that live in different parts of the world and understanding how to care for them. - Understanding what we can do as citizens to help endangered species throughout the world. We would like to enter into partnerships with schools throughout the world to share ideas on the above points.

Glebe Eco School - Recycled Animals

Year 1 and 2 are working on collaborative Art Project to use recycled objects to make a display of an elephant. We would encourage other schools to make a similar display of another animal using locally produced objects. This would lead to an interesting comparison of what items such as milk bottles look like in different countries and how we can use transform them for other purposes.

Next Steps -Finding out about endangered species and how we can help them

After we have completed the animal recycling project both year groups will carry out a project looking at the issues facing endangered species and find out information about these animals. We would be interested in sharing information with other schools abroad to find out about local animals in other countries and how animals are care for and preserved.

Next Steps 2 - E-mail exchange about a favourite animal

After year 1 and 2 have found out about endangered species and exchanged information, the project can lead on to them discussing a favourite animal or pet and how they look after them. In class, each child can make a page about a favourite animal to share with children abroad. This can be created into a digital video or presentation to be shared with our partner schools.
