Reflection on the culture activity
At first, I was very nervous about this activity which my partner school and I both agreed but I was really worried about whether my students can do it well. The activities are making Mehndi for girl students and flower bracelets for boy students. In the morning I showed them how to do it in a Youtube video and then during my class I started to give them some makeup materials so they can use to draw on their hands. The reaons is that it is difficult for us to get Mehndi paint in Taiwan. In the beginning of the class, I seprated students into two groups: boys and girls. I paired girl students up because I only had 7 painting utensils. And, I told boy students to the campus to collect flowers. And then, we did find some flowers on the campus. After that, boy students tried to make flowers into bracelets and girl students worked on painting on others' hands. Before they started to paint, they both brainstormed for nice picture so later they could make something good out of it. After they started to do it, I was amazed at how creative my students are. I did a good job. Now, I posted their results here and share with you. And, other students at school also gave positive feedback on this activity. Now, I really appreicated that Teacher Farwas assigned this activity for us to do. In the end, I would like say that things might look difficult in the beginng but eventually students can figure out a better to do it. Our students are full of creativity and imagination. This course is total success.
Stage 2:
Assignment from Taiwan. Our students have thought up an idea of paper cutting work for students from other culture. Would you like to try? For Taiwanese wedding ceremony, in the bride and groom's houses will be "Double Happiness" charactor posted everywhere on the doors in their houses. We would love to make students in other countries try to cut the paper of the "Double Happiness" charactor. Let me show you a link of instruction to do it. http://tw.myblog.yahoo.com/something-clara/article?mid=6122&next=6090&l=f&fid=6

Take a look at the instruction either in photos or in video and you will have a better idea about how to do it.
